A restrained digital portfolio for an architecture practice focused on homes, materials and long-lived spatial decisions.

Challenge

The practice had strong work but a flat archive. Visitors could see finished rooms, yet the site did not explain intent, constraints or the material decisions that made each project valuable.

Strategy

We reframed the portfolio around project rhythm: a generous index, concise metadata, editorial captions and case-study sections that connect atmosphere to business value.

Design Approach

The visual system uses quiet neutral surfaces, precise rules and large image frames. Project pages pair sticky summaries with narrative sections so readers can move at their own pace.

Implementation

The final build uses Astro Content Collections, optimized local images and restrained Motion reveals. Every project can be edited in Markdown without a CMS.

Kinfold House needed a portfolio that felt as deliberate as the homes it presents. The previous site leaned on beautiful imagery, but the sequence was thin: visitors moved from project to project without understanding the design decisions, constraints or outcomes.

Northframe’s case-study structure gave the practice a clearer way to explain its work. Each page now opens with the essential context, then moves through challenge, approach, implementation and outcome with enough breathing room for images to carry authority.

The result is a portfolio that feels slower in the right way. It invites better conversations, helps prospective clients understand the practice’s standards and gives the studio a maintainable publishing format for future residential work.
